Course Overview
Learn the best way to create and maintain spaces for children to develop their abilities and be safe in when you take this course on Child Playwork. Playwork principles have transcended the simple practice of merely providing a sandbox or collection of toys and leaving young minds to their own devices. Rich and varied philosophies are now in place to ensure that children are encouraged to play in personal ways that direct motivation and unfettered creativity. This Playwork tutorial covers every aspect of being a playworker and the history of play provision in the UK. There are 13 educational modules packed with advice, tips, and guidelines for helping young children learn about life and their senses as they play. You will be shown how to drive specific styles of play, understand how play can support mental health in the young, introduce social skills into fun games, develop literacy and numeracy in subtle ways, and much more. Helpful guidance is even given for the maintenance and administration of play environments, with important references also being made to vital UK laws and legislation.
